xSmithx launched in April 2025 by Jason Smith, but what is it? Why is it?

So my adult and almost adult children wanted a family minecraft server. So I built one on Oracle Cloud Infrasturcture. This lead me down many rabbit holes in technology. I built the server on Oracle Linux 8 with CurseForge and Better Minecraft 4, but I had no idea how to do most of that. I am pretty proficient with Linux and have been turnimg my kids Chromebooks into Linux-books for many years. It's actually how they got started with Minecraft. I would install Linux with Crouton and install Minecraft for them. I had built a local Minecraft server many years ago, but this was a new experience in the cloud and the new versions of MC. With lots of research and trial and error I was able to get it started and optimized. That then lead me to want to use the server to serve a simple website since they are not playing Minecraft all the time. I stumbled on an article about using Ghost, Docker and Caddy but it was a bit outdated and took many hours to get it correctly built. I wanted something light-weight and I had already done Wordpress, so here we are. Not sure what it will become but I like Motorcycles and technology so lets see what I can string together.
